Unexpected Help In Witnessing

Richard Wurmbrand:

When I talk with a Communist about Christ, the deepest spiritual need in his heart is my ally . . . my helper. The greatest difficulty for him is not to answer my arguments. His great difficulty is to quiet the voice of his own conscience, which is on my side.

I am convinced that the same thing is true of anyone with whom Christians share the gospel. The deepest need of his heart is our ally . . . our helper. His great difficulty is to quiet the voice of his own conscience, which is on our side.

There may be some of you out there who understood that idea but it never occurred to me until I read Pastor Wurmbrand*s quote. He won to Christ countless godless Communists and atheists who had tortured him unspeakably during his decades in communist prisons. This can help explain why, when I have made some sort of a blunder in witnessing, individuals are still willing to receive Christ.
